Washington, D.C. – The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) – the leading trade association representing manufacturers of medical imaging equipment, radiopharmaceuticals, contrast media, and focused ultrasound therapeutic devices –  today submitted comments to Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) in response to his request for information, “Cybersecurity is Patient Safety: Policy Options in the Health Care Sector,” inviting policy solutions for improving cybersecurity in the healthcare sector.

In its comments, MITA calls upon, “health care sector stakeholders to embrace the concept of ‘shared responsibility’ to achieve stronger cybersecurity” and addresses how the federal government can guide improved cybersecurity, as well as the need for health care organizations to improve cyber hygiene and cyber emergency preparedness.

“MITA commends Senator Warner for his continued work on policies regarding health care sector cybersecurity,” the letter from Patrick Hope, director of MITA, concludes. “MITA and its members stand ready to assist in these efforts and look forward to our continued work together on any policy initiatives that develop.”
