Washington, D.C.The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) – the leading trade association representing manufacturers of medical imaging equipment, radiopharmaceuticals, contrast media, and focused ultrasound therapeutic devices – today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives for passing H.R. 5585, the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Health (ARPA-H) Act to establish an independent agency to accelerate biomedical innovation.

“Innovative technologies, like focused ultrasound and emerging artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, are changing medicine before our eyes. Already we see potential in diagnosing disease earlier or treating conditions less invasively and more precisely,” said Patrick Hope, Executive Director, MITA.  “ARPA-H has the potential to lead the way in building on today’s innovations to continue to transform how we diagnose and treat disease. We urge the Senate to take immediate action and send this bill to the President’s desk.”

H.R. 5585 was introduced by Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and passed the House by a vote of 336-85. The bill now moves to the U.S Senate.
