MITA Supports Vice President Joe Biden on the “Moon Shot” Initiative to Cure Cancer

02.01.16

Dear Mr. Vice President:

As the leading trade association representing the manufacturers of medical imaging devices and radiopharmaceuticals, the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA) would like to commit to helping you with the “moon shot” initiative to cure cancer.

As you know, advanced imaging is critical for screening, diagnosis, staging, and therapy monitoring of cancer. Our technologies enable doctors to enhance lives by helping to detect cancers early when they are more easily, and often successfully, treatable. Imaging provides doctors with otherwise impossible views into the anatomy and function of the body, allowing for confident decisions to be made about the best course of treatment. As these technologies advance, they will only become more critical to detecting, treating, and ultimately curing cancer.

As you develop this important initiative, and as you consider the importance of medical imaging in detecting and treating cancer, we stand ready to help you in this worthwhile endeavor and look forward to the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how medical imaging will play a role in this effort. If you have any questions, please contact Patrick Hope, Executive Director, MITA.

Sincerely,

Nelson Mendes

Chairman of the Board, MITA
