08.28.14

The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) today announced a successful week of meetings with Brazilian regulators, health officials, and industry stakeholders on the regulatory and commercial priorities for the medical imaging and radiation therapy industry in Brazil.

“The market for medical imaging and radiation therapy technology in Brazil has grown rapidly over the past decade” said Gail Rodriguez, executive director of MITA. “The relationships we are establishing will pave the way for open communication between MITA, our member companies, and Brazilian regulatory agencies, ultimately increasing patient access to the most innovative medical technologies.”

Although several medical device industry groups exist in Brazil, none is dedicated to the specialized needs of the medical imaging and radiation therapy industry. MITA members have been establishing and growing their presence in Brazil in recent years, reflecting trends indicating Brazil’s maturing market for diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy equipment.
