From the readers: Cuts to Medicare come at too high a cost

It’s such a simple, logical element of the way we practice health care in this country that you have to wonder why it would ever be endangered. In order to keep people from getting sick, we have to diagnose their conditions early and then take steps to prevent an illness from worsening or returning. Pretty basic, huh?

And yet our leaders in Washington are preparing to take a scalpel to this essential health care component – diagnostic imaging.
