MITA Applauds Study on Impact of CT Use on Hospital Admission Rates

Rosslyn, Va. – A recent study published in Annals of Emergency Medicine found that computed tomography (CT) scans in the emergency department are associated with a reduction in hospitalizations. Between 1996 and 2007, the rate of hospitalization following a CT scan decreased by almost half, from 26 percent to 12.1 percent.
